San Antonio gets 4G Coverage, thanks to Sprint and Clear

I’ve been waiting for 4G to come to San Antonio, TX for a long time. It’s finally here as of November 2009. What’s interesting is the way that’s available. I can either get it through Sprint with a 2 year contract, or I can get a no committment month to month plan from Clear. Being the person who hates the contracts he’s already in, and knowing that Sprint is basically putting Clear’s stuff on their towers (there’s literally no difference technically between the two), I opted for the month to month deal.  I’m very impressed with the speeds and coverage in and around town. I’ll keep you all updated on quality of coverage in the south texas area. In the mean time, enjoy this video, and the music (audioswap is in progress, so you may not actually enjoy the music.. in which case, enjoy the silence).

Conclusions: I understand the speeds I’m getting right now are higher than what will be, as more people get on the 4G network. I’m very impressed so far, and am looking forward to going to Austin, TX and Corpus Christi, TX to see how the coverage fairs over there.
